Lisbon, Portugal

The voice echoing across marble and time

Right away I took to the marble alleyways of Lisbon. Narrow and twisting they carry sound like no other place I've heard. Crisp. Clear. Alive! I had twenty-four hours to explore by myself before meeting up with a friend for the rest of the trip.

Astonishing feats of athleticism with nary a finger twitch

I'm not sure how exactly I managed. My body remembers steps like taking the stairs by two. Keeping my center of gravity low. Soft soled shoes. And the lightest, supportive touch possible, cradling the recorder like my life depended on it.

About

The most exciting part of field recording is more than captured sounds

For me, it's also being in the flow state. Being open. And all the happenings associated with that state. Hi! I'm April, a field recordist.

To only focus on the recordings themselves or what sort of pieces they become is great. But I really love to hear and share the stories behind the recordings.

They can add layers of context that really elevate the listening experience. And that's why I created this space to share my stories.

Thanks for reading!
